4/4/1898Hiralal Sen and his brother Motilal Sen purchased a Bioscope Cinematographic Machine from London. The first show of imported films was arranged by them at Classic Theatre on April 4, after which they formed 'The Royal Bioscope Co.,' controlled by H. L. Sen & Bros., 85/2, Maszid Badi Street, Calcutta. The Bioscope Company started touring the provinces of Bengal, Orissa and Bihar.
1/14/1969Madras State renamed Tamil Nadu.
10/9/1942Bibi Amar Kaur, freedom fighter, successfully hoisted the national flag at Jail Gate of Lahore. She was then arrested and send to Ambala Jail.
11/8/2000Queen Ingrid (90), Denmark's Swedish born queen mother and great-grand daughter of Britain's Queen Victoria, died in Copenhagen.

10/9/1997Forest brigand Veerappan kidnapped 21 persons and later released 13 tourists. He detained six people --Dr. Mythi of Indian Institute of Horticulture Research Centre, Bangalore, two drivers, pumpset attender and two photographers.
9/10/1915Jatindranath Mukhrjee, great revolutionary, died after being wounded in a pitched battle between the revolutionaries and the police, aided by an army unit, in Balasore.
