Historical Event on 10/1/1953
The first new state in India since 1949, Andhra Pradesh, is established on purely linguistic basis and formally inaugurated. This state was created by sub-dividing state of India, Madras Province and this movement was started by Shriramulu for which he had to sacrifice his life.

8/2/1861	Parafulla Chandra Ray, chemical expert and great patriot, was born in the village of Raruli-Katipara IN Jessore district.
1/3/1952	India adopted birth control program with aid of U.N. World Health Organization.
11/30/1896	Gandhiji sails for South Africa with wife and children.
5/8/1901	British commission claims famine has taken 1.25 million lives since 1899; blames over population.
3/1/1960	National Aeronautical Research Laboratory moves to Bangalore with offices at Palace Road and Jayamahal Road. It soon becomes National Aeronautical Laboratory. Dr Nilakantan invites Dr D M Rao to lead the 4 ft tunnel project.
11/17/1994	North Eastern Council decides to include Sikkim in the Council.
4/3/1999	Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2E), fifth satellite in INSAT-2 series, launched. This has multipurpose communication & meteorological capabilities. This is still in use. Launched by European launch vehicle Ariane, ISRO has leased eleven 36 MHz equivalent units of C-band capacity on board to INTELSAT organisation.
4/3/1999	Jalal'ud-din Firuz Khalji establishes the Khalji dynasty at Delhi.
7/7/1999	The Indian Army recaptures Jubar height in the Batalik sector.
2/1/1971	Ajaysingh Jadeja, cricketer (Indian opening batsman), was born in Jamnagar.
