Akshat excels in providing simplified immigration solutions and creative advocacy to entrepreneurs and individuals. He possesses more than fifteen years of combined immigration law experience at firms in Bellevue, Boston, and Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Seattle University School of Law, and as a licensed attorney in the State of Washington, he is authorized to represent clients all across the United States in their immigration matters.
Akshat started his solo immigration law practice in Bellevue in 2012. Subsequently, in 2013, he acquired the business and family immigration practice of Mr. Ketu Shah, following Mr. Shah’s appointment as a King County District Court judge. In 2015, Akshat merged his practice with Desh International & Business Law, in a strategic alliance to offer his immigration clients the added value of a diverse and experienced legal team with a global reach.
Akshat represents clients in a wide variety of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters, including visas for trainees, interns, investors, specialty occupation temporary workers, intracompany transferees, athletes and entertainment groups, religious workers, NAFTA professionals, and permanent residence for companies and self-petitioners. His business immigration client base includes companies and institutions from industries as diverse as architecture, arts and culture, engineering, global shipping and logistics, information technology, industrial manufacturing, health and wellness, oil and gas, real estate, and veterinary services. He also finds immense satisfaction reuniting families by helping obtain visas for visitors, fiancé(e)s, spouses, parents, and battered individuals, in addition to helping permanent residents preserve their status in this country and become naturalized citizens.
An immigrant from India and a naturalized citizen of the United States, Akshat considers himself privileged to have lived on four continents and to be conversant in five languages. He studied abroad in Barcelona during college and law school and also served as one of the Rotary Foundation’s student ambassadors to Buenos Aires. He has also helped manage FC Barcelona’s supporters club in New York City and recorded English and Spanish language audio materials, including an entire nonfiction book, at the Perkins School for the Blind.
Locally, Akshat is a member of the Rotary Club of Bellevue. His community involvement has included serving on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, and volunteering for the Seattle community organization,Tasveer. He also volunteers at the Eastside Legal Assistance Program’s Immigration Clinic, the free legal clinics of the South Asian and Latina/o Bar Associations of Washington, and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project workshops in King and Pierce Counties.
