Baghlan, Jan 6 (IANS) At least six Taliban were killed and four others were wounded during an operation in northern Baghlan, local officials said.
The operation was launched on the Baghlan-Samangan highway on Tuesday to clear the highway from "Taliban", said Mohammad Wais Samimi, the provincial police chief, TOLO news reported.
"The enemies have been pushed back from the highway," said Samimi, adding that "the operation was successful. Two key Taliban members were also among the dead."
"A plan is in place to keep the highway secure and target the enemies in villages that start activities and threaten the people and business on the highways," he said.
"Six security outposts were created on the highway and we will also have patrols," he added.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the operation.
