Panaji, July 3 (IANS) Mukesh Kumar Meena, a 1989 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, took over as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Goa on Friday.
The post was lying vacant ever since the death of former DGP Pranab Nanda, who passed away in November last year.
Meena took charge at a time when the state is grappling with an increasing number of Covid-19 cases and requires the state police department to monitor the containment and micro-containment zones set up across the state.
Meena was transferred to Goa from Mizoram by an order issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs last month.
