Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2C), third indigenous satellite in the INSAT-2 series, launched. This has additional capabilities such as mobile satellite service, business communication and television outreach beyond Indian boundaries. This is still in service. It was launched by Ariane launch vehicle at French Guyana.

1/26/1882	Telephone line started working between Mumbai and Calcutta.
3/1/1960	National Aeronautical Research Laboratory moves to Bangalore with offices at Palace Road and Jayamahal Road. It soon becomes National Aeronautical Laboratory. Dr Nilakantan invites Dr D M Rao to lead the 4 ft tunnel project.
6/30/1934	Chintamani Nagesh Ramachandra Rao, famous Scientist and Chemist, was born. His research work confines to ""Solid State Chemistry"". In 1982 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
1/16/1992	Prices of steel and iron decontrolled.
12/5/1990	With the induction of 60 ministers, the Bihar Cabinet becomes the largest ever cabinet in India with a total of 71 ministers.
11/8/1947	Junagadh accedes to India. Addresses A.I.C.C.
12/1/1989	V. P. Singh is named the new prime minister.
12/22/1992	Lok Sabha adopts the constitution amendment bills regarding Panchayati Raj and Nagarapalika Bills, and decentralisation of power to the village level.
7/29/1884	Tyagraj Paramshiv Kailasam, leading playwright of Kannad language, was born.
