Renewing a Washington State Drivers
License
Your license expires on your birthday 5 years after it was issued. You can renew a license up to 90 days before it expires. If

How to renew your license
- You can renew your drivers license at any of the
driver licensing office.
- You must pass a vision screening.
- You may be asked to take other examinations, if
necessary.
- Fee of $25. If it is more than
60 days after your license expired, you will also be charged a
$10 late fee. Payable in check or cash only
- You might need a
proof of residence. To check if you will need the proof of
residence, please enter your address in the USPS Zip Code Lookup at
http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp. If the search results
don’t match you may be required to
verify your address when you renew your license.

Serving in the
military?
You do not need to renew your
driver license during the term of your military service if you
are:
- a member of the armed forces or National Guard on active
duty.
- a reservist called to duty for 180 days or more.
- the spouse or dependent of an active member of the
military.
