3,827 new corona cases reported in TN

Chennai, July 6 (IANS) As many as 3,827 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours, taking the state's total tally to 114,978, the Health Department said on Monday.

The state was reporting over 4,000 cases daily for the past few days.

The state now has 46,833 active cases since 61 more casualties took the state's death toll to 1,571.

On the positive side, 3,793 patients were cured and discharged, increasing the total numbers to 66,571.

The number of infected children in the state in the age group 0-12 went up to 5,668.

State capital Chennai continued to head the Covid-19 infection table with 1,747 new cases, and a total tally of 70,017. The active cases in the city stands at 24,052 and discharged patients in Chennai at 2,573.
