Gurugram, July 4 (IANS) The death toll due to COVID-19 in Gurugram has reached 99 with three more fatalities, health officials said on Saturday.

Gurugram, which has the highest number of coronavirus deaths among other districts in Haryana, also reported 130 fresh cases. The district has 5,829 patients and 4,496 of them have recuperated from their illness.

Gurugram now has 1,224 active cases and 843 of them are in home isolation, officials added.

Virender Yadav, Civil Surgeon of Gurugram, said that the administration has intensified contact tracing in containment zones.

"Gurugram has eight such containment zones where infection rate was high. We have initiated door to door screening in these zones to identify suspects. We are using the rapid antigen kit to test suspects," Yadav said.

He pointed out that 7,052 persons have undergone tests through rapid antigen kits and 257 of them were found positive. On Saturday, 1,566 persons underwent rapid antigen testing and 20 of them tested positive. Besides 434 persons took the normal RTPCR test.
