Indore, June 28 (IANS) Internal turmoil in the Madhya Pradesh BJP resurfaced on Sunday with the state leadership deciding to act against senior leader Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat who has levelled serious charges against Kailash Vijayvargiya, national general secretary, and key supporter of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Trouble is brewing in the party just as it prepares for the by-elections to be held in 24 assembly constituencies.

Just as the Congress is building pressure on the ruling party over its failure to effectively counter the opposition over China policy the intra-party conflicts have embarrassed the BJP.

After trying to hush up the feud between Vijayvargiya and Shekhawat on Saturday the state unit president V.D. Sharma stepped in to support Vijayvargiya who has been tasked to help the party win the by-elections to five seats in Malwa region.

Sharma had on Saturday said there was no serious conflict over Shekhawat's charges against Vijayvargiya and the minor difference of opinion in the party was blown out of proportion. It was an internal matter of the party and would be settled amicably. However, on Sunday Shekhawat was summoned by the leadership to explain his conduct.

On Saturday, Shekhawat had accused Vijayvargiya of working against the party's interests. Shekhawat said that Scindia has defeated Kailash Vijayvargiya twice in Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association elections. To avenge the defeat, Vijayvargiya might upset Scindia supporters fielded from the region. Shekhawat said Vijayvargiya had funded Rajesh Agarwal in Badnawar to contest against him (Shekhawat). He said Rajesh Agrawal had been inducted in the BJP with Vijayvargiya's consent.

He said, Vijayvargiya had moved senior leader Usha Thakur to Mhow to get a ticket for his son Akash Vijayvargiya from Indore. Shekhawat said, "I have presented my views on the party forum and have made it clear that the party may have to bear the consequences for Vijayavargiya's actions.
