Panaji, June 22 (IANS) Goa on Monday reported its first coronavirus death when an 85-year-old man died at the Covid-19 hospital in South Goa district.
Earlier on Monday, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told reporters that the victim was an 85-year-old woman, but later tweeted to clarify that the deceased was a male patient.
"Deeply saddened to inform that a 85-year-old man, from Morlem in Sattari, who had tested positive, has succumbed to COVID19. My heartfelt condolence to the family," Rane tweeted.
Morlem is a remote village located at the foothills of the Western Ghats.
