Let's behave with calmness: IOA VC calls for end to infighting
New Delhi, July 4 (IANS) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Vice President R.K. Anand has appealed to members to end the infighting that has erupted within India's National Olympic Council over the past three months. Anand, who is also Chairman of the IOA's Legal Committee, said that he has "never seen such bitterness and language" used in mails that have been flying between the warring factions.

IOA Treasurer says probe into HFI's matters will amount to interference
New Delhi, July 4 (IANS) Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Treasurer Anandeshwar Panday hit back at Associate Executive Council member Bholanath Singh's allegations of financial fraud. Alleging that it is someone else who is behind Singh's mails against several members of the IOA in recent days, Panday said that the current allegations and demand of an investigation will amount to the IOA interfering in the daily functioning of the Handball Federation of India (HFI).

Government to launch TOPS Scheme for junior athletes: Rijiju
New Delhi, July 3 (IANS) Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Friday that the ministry will launch Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Junior to groom young athletes for the 2024 and 2028 Olympics. The existing TOPS is for senior athletes who have been identified as medal contenders for the Olympics and has some India's top athletes in its roster and Rijiju said that the junior scheme is part of the efforts to ensure that India finishes in the top 10 of the rankings at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Avoid salary cuts on vulnerable athletes to prevent corruption, says IOC-led paper

Sports Ministry files application in Delhi HC to restore recognition of 57 NSFs
New Delhi, June 30 (IANS) The Sports Ministry on Tuesday filed an application in the Delhi High Court to allow it to restore the provisional recognitions of 57 National Sports Federations (NSF). Apart from the 54 NSF who were granted recognition until September this year earlier in the month and was later withdrawn due to the court's order, the ministry also asked for the restoration of recognition of the Indian Golf Union (IGU), the School Games Federation of India and the Rowing Federation of India.
