10/9/2000	The Reserve Bank of India issued bank notes in the denomination of Rs.1000 in the Mahatma Gandhi series bearing the leader's portrait in the watermark and signature of Dr. Bimal Jalan, Governor of the RBI. The length of the note is 177 mm and the width is 73 mm. The notes are printed in a combination of offset and intaglio processes. This is the first note with intaglio printing on it.

9/25/1946	Bishan Singh Giansingh Bedi, cricketer (mighty Indian slow left-armer 1966-79), was born in Amritsar. He received the Arjun Award (1969) and the Padmashree (1970).
5/28/1968	Bhagwan Gopinathji Bhan, was a mystic saint of early 20th century Kashmir in India. He has been called a ""jivanmukta"" (liberated soul) or ""Aghoreshwar"" and his spiritual state has been described as ""Shambhavi Avastha"" (state of Shiva), died. He was a great devotee of Shiva and Shakti and took intense "Sadhana". His disciples and devotees set up an ashram at Kharyar in Srinagar in his name.
8/6/1925	Surendra Nath Banerjee died. He was one of the founders of mordern India and proponent of autonomy within the British Commonwealth. He was President of Indian National Congress twice, in 1895 at Pune and in 1902 at Ahmedabad.
