OK. Congratulations for getting into Microsoft.Bellevue is one of the safest neighborhoods in entire United States. Since it is part of 4 tech-savvy states unemployment was less compared many other states. Thanks to companies like Costco, MS etc., The reason why I listed Costco is because they didnt even let one of their employees go home and I work with Costco :-) MS headquarter located in Redmond but offices scattered throughout Redmond, Bellevue and Issaquah areas. Most offices, if not all are accessible by public transportation. You can surely live here without a car, not just months but forever you want.Coming to accommodation, a good 1 BR + 1 BA costs any where from $800 to $1100. In summer rents are usually higher than winter. There may be additional water/sewer/garbage and electricity charges. In order to get an apartment you are expected to have good credit history. Some apartments let you rent (may be with additional deposit) even if you dont have credit history (like immigrants). It all depends on their rules and how they see you. Its good to find someone with whom you can share accommodation for atleast few months. A good 2BR would cost you anywhere from $900 to $1400. There are quite a few apartment complexes in and around Bellevue/Redmond area. Search seattle craigslist for details. Also you can see Sulekha seattle classifieds for sharing accommodation. Talk/Mail to people to set-up something ready before you arrive.People complain a lot about seattle weather. It rains (measurable quantity) for more than 150 days a year. It looks gloomy most and gets snow rarely. Summer is pretty good, though. Who knows, you might like Seattle weather better, just like me.Indian grocery stores and restaurants are close by to MS headquarters and quite a big indian community around that place. It would be an ideal place to start your new adventure, expand your wings and explore further. Once again, congrats and welcome to Bellevue.
