Topic : UW, Seattle area for undergraduate foreign student

Manish
My son will be attending University of Washington Engineering school for undergraduate as a foreign student. We do not have and friends or relatives in Seattle and dont have any idea about this city. So just had a few questions:
-Are there good academic resources for international students?
-Is the University neighborhood safe?
-How cold does it get in Seattle in winter?
- Do international students have a hard time adjusting in UW?

Yes lot of good resources for international students as well as a very large Indian community including food. Yes the university is safe and search for Indian PG as well, some one will definitely accommodate, but there are lot of students in dorm, so as far as I know if the student is friendly, it won't take long to make friends. Seattle gets cold but not like other places in east or several feet of snow or below 32=0 degree. It might go down to zero maybe for a few days and get a small snow shower but nothing crazy. But warm clothes are needed. Starting from September or October till Marche end it might get cloudy but student life is fun. Definitely, international students get accustomed so well and there are other Indian students ready to help.. and welcome to Seattle, it's a matter of time for people who move here, and fall in love with the city and the landscape. Fun fact: Canada -Surrey/Vancouver is ~2 hours drive from Seattle

It is one of the safest campuses and a great school for CS and EE. East of Seattle (Bellevue, Redmond, Sammamish, Bothell, Kent) has a flourishing Indian community and is always helpful. Winter is not severe, snows once or twice a year, rains a lot, and summers are great. Depending on the season, you can be comfortable with a windbreaker and a winter jacket.
