I will be joining Amazon in September. I was wondering what is the nearest reasonable locality to live near Amazons office. I also want favorites of Desis! I know Bellevue is one such but anything still closer?? Is Lower Queen Ann good? What are some good apartments and day care centers for kids? Any help is greatly appreciated as I will be moving alone with kids for sometime.

Hi Vasudha,We moved to Seattle in July from California. My husband works for Amazon and I have two year old daughter.We had really hard time to find a decent place to live. We saw many neighborhoods and we liked queen ann, magnolia & greenwood.Unfortunately, we were in rush and not many apartments were vacant during that time so we ended up renting near northgate which was vacant and available for immediate movein.But if pre-school is priority, I guess you should look in queen ann, magnolia...Our realtor told us that even maple leaf is good but its far fro Amazon. But if your husband is commuting by car that shouldnt be a problem.I have a list of apartments which we shorlisted in these areas. Hi Namita, We are in the same situation now - and quite literally!. We just moved to Seattle, and my husband works with Amazon. We have a 3 year old and are looking for a safe community with proximity to SLU and a decent desi connection and ofcourse a good pre-school . Could you share on what your shortlisted options were? I have been living in Seattle for around three years now and my husband works in Amazon. We lived in lower Queen Anne for 2.5 years , it's a really good and happening neighborhood to live if you want to stay close to Amazon and downtown ...You will also find lots of Indian people living around. We had recently bought a house in Fremont another good place to stay close to Amazon and I am really loving it, The other hot place to live nearby is Green lake, especially when you have kids. It has very nice wading pool and kids park with lots of swings . Hope this helps !! Welcome to Seattle.
