Dear FriendsThis is regarding an Indo-American cultural-cum-literary research on a great poet-monk Swami Ramtirtha, who stayed in the United States of America as a Spiritual Ambassador of India from November 1902 to November 1904.Swami Ram, a notable metaphysician from Punjab, India, reached Seattle, Washington, in the beginning of November 1902. He stayed in Seattle for about twenty days. He was well received bythe members of the then Spiritualist Society of the city. He was very much connected with the educationalists and students of the University of Washington, Seattle. It was the University ofWashington where he delivered his first lecture. The topic of the historic lecture was Hindu Philosophy.It is really very painful that a saint of Swami Ram's stature who culturally and intellectually connected the both great nations has been ignored by the scholars and spiritualists of both US andIndia. So far, no research has been done on his work and mission in US, though, by the grace of God,I have got the opportunity to get a degree of doctorate on Swami Ram's mystic English poemscomposed in America from an Indian University in 2007.Currently, I am working on a research project on Swami Ram's works and endeavours in Seattle.
