Emotions vary on a moment to moment basis. If we think deeply, we will find that it's not just a moment but perhaps every few seconds and it is subject to external situation.
We don't have much control on the external things whether it be one's own body, incidents or other people. What we can control however is how we react and how we don't let the emotions overpower our 'decision making faculty'.
For example, a CEO is sick, he is down with fever but he has scores of regular obligations to meet and some of them are unavoidable. He is the head of a small start-up, so he has a few important meetings which if he misses, perhaps would incur some loss for him. The CEO was all geared up to go for that important meeting until last the moment, when he realizes that he would not able to go for the scheduled meeting which is taking place in the neighboring city. The CEO stays back and informs his client about it. While the CEO sits back at home, there come to his mind all sorts of apprehension, self-doubt and negativity.
In such a situation what he can do best is to take some time off and come back to the high energy state by doing mediation and Yoga or heavy work out. With the combination of either Meditation with Yoga or Meditation with Heavy work out can bring back to the high energy state.
This way, he would remain productive and in control of his emotions that are surfing up in his mind. Also, he has to reaffirm, bring back positive counter thoughts again and again in his mind, this he can do only if he has led a disciplined life, he had meditated regularly. A person, who has lived his life fancifully and always acted upon emotions, cannot act sensibly under critical regular life challenges.
