I am relocating from India to seattle later this year, wanted to know a few things to plan my relocationa) While searching for apartments, do we get Gas Stove apartments or Electric stove apartments generally?b) What are almost essentials in Apartments in Seattle - Air conditioning or heating?c) What are other essential and critical things to check in an apartment before signing a lease?d) What things I should bring from India to seattle - Like Ive heard Pressure cookers. Now, do I bring utensils that work on induction or gas stoves?

Welcome to Seattle. Will you be working out of Seattle or cities close to Seattle?Bellevue, Redmond etc. Where you work makes a big difference in where you live. Allapartments.com is a good place to scope apartments. Most pressure cookers etc are available here. I would not bother with bringing those. In fact when you get here buy an Instapot. That is all you will need for any type of cooking. Are you coming with kids of school going age? Then you will need to live in an area that has good schools. The only thing you can bring with you is a dry mixie for grinding masalas. Otherwise you will need to use a coffee grinder and they are tiny. Almost all apartments have electric stoves, not gas. Unless you rent / buy a home, your cooking will mostly be on an electric stove. The most important thing to bring to Seattle is a positive mindset. It rains almost 8 months of the year over here. And it is very cold for at least 6 months. The traffic congestion is pretty bad. Things are more expensive here than the rest of USA. The Indian community is pretty friendly and helping. But outside of that most people are cold and not friendly. Google "Seattle Freeze". It is a great place to be if you are in technology. Lots of jobs to be had. If you like outdoor activity, there are plenty of hikes and ski opportunities.
