Indian Ambassador to the USA bullish on US- India relationship and upbeat on American Business in India
Seattle May 6,2014: At a dinner hosted by the Indo-American Friendship Forum Ambassador Dr S Jaishankar was upbeat about his visit to Boeing, Amazon, Starbucks and Microsoft. He was pleased to learn that India ranked high on these companies' business plans and that they were positive on India's growth prospects. He was also pleased to note the large number of Americans of Indian origin who were making significant contributions in key positions in these and other companies.
The Ambassador expressed great optimism regarding the future of the US-India relationship. As the world's two largest democracies these countries share common goals and values. He noted that at the time of India's independence the Indian community in the USA numbered just about three thousand which has grown to over three million today. The positive contributions being made by Indian-Americans in all walks of life have fostered a better understanding of India, enhanced its image and promoted better US-India ties.
The Ambassador gave a brief update on the elections which are currently in progress in India and for which results will be known in about two weeks. It is significant to note that the debates in this election have all centered on growth, governance and delivery.
During his visit to Washington State Ambassador Jaishankar also met with Governor Inslee, other business and cultural groups and visited the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Bellevue. His Excellency Ambassador Dr S Jaishankar was accompanied by Consul General Mr Parthasarthy, Deputy Consul General Dr Srinivasa, First Secretary Mr Yadav, Minister Commerce Ms Sandhu and Minister Political Mr Dalela.
