11/1/1956Indian Government re-organizes the states according to linguistic principles and inaugurates second Five-Year Plan. The states declared were Madhya Pradesh, Punjab by merging Patiala & PEPSU, Mumbai was divided in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
